New York City's Campbell was off in one of the day's earlier matches, facing Kaleigh Telfer of South Africa. Telfer, the No. 49 ranked women's player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking who plays at Auburn University, won seven of the first 11 holes before Campbell notched a win with par on the par-four 12th. After tying the next hole, Telfer claimed the 6-and-5 victory.

Ganne, meanwhile, battled with Lei Ye of China in a back-and-forth match. Both players won a pair of holes to stand tied through 10. Though Ye won Nos. 11-12, Ganne answered back with wins on the very next two holes to return the match to tied. After ties on the next two holes, Ye capitalized on a Ganne miscue, using par to win the 17th hole. A tie on the last led Ye to a 1-up victory.

However, even with Ganne's early elimination from this year's U.S. Women's Amateur, she's already earned an exemption into next year's U.S. Women's Amateur at Westchester Country Club thanks to her run to the semifinal round in 2019.

After her run to the semifinal last year, Ganne easily advanced to match play behind scores of 71-76 (+3/147). The Holmdel, N.J., native and 16-year-old tied for 26th and garners the No. 27 seed. She faces China's Lei Ye at 2:40 p.m.

Campbell, meanwhile, will look to replicate her run in last year's U.S. Women's Mid-Am, where she advanced all the way to the final before falling to fellow New York City resident Ina Kim-Schaad. Campbell carded a pair of 74s, with her 4-over 148 placing her in a tie for 36th. She ended up with the No. 41 seed, facing South Africa's Kaleigh Telfer in the morning Round of 64.

Kelly Sim of Edgewater, N.J., was part of a 15-for-6 playoff after carding a 6-over 150 (73, 77) for her two rounds, but was eliminated on the second playoff hole after making bogey on the par-4 ninth.

The U.S. Women's Amateur began on Monday, but play was completely postponed on Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Isaias. Round two took place Wednesday with the top 64 moving on to match play.
