Brae Burn Hosts MGA Presidents Council

PURCHASE, N.Y. (October 18, 2022) -- Nearly 100 leaders from MGA member clubs gathered at Brae Burn Country Club to hear from industry leaders on timely topics during the Metropolitan Golf Association's annual Presidents Council Fall Conference. The informational day is part of the MGA Foundation-sponsored educational programming that takes place throughout the year.

MGA President Andrew Stock welcomed those in attendance before presentations began. National Club Association Interim President and CEO Joe Trauger began the day by sharing his update on legal and legislative issues and regulatory concerns that are of concern to private clubs.

Michael Smith, CCM, CCE, ECM of Koppplin, Kuebler & Wallace took the podium next, sharing the intricacies of both attracting and retaining talent. Smith shared insight on how different subtle details may impact the hiring process, plus discussed what key factors may help in maintaining workforce at a club.

After a brief break, Stock returned to share an MGA and MGA Foundation update to the crowd.

Representatives from Club Benchmarking then closed out the morning programming. Mike Morin began by sharing key data from the organization's extensive member surveys. Data helps Club Benchmarking gather valuable insight regarding amenities, capital improvements and the efficiency by which clubs are using resources.

Ken Butler, CCM, Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region for Club Benchmarking, finished by sharing details from the 2022 Labor Survey Report.

This spring, the MGA and Club Benchmarking began a strategic collaboration that delivers Club Benchmarking's Strategic Monthly Dashboard as a free service for MGA clubs, allowing access to real-time data.

After lunch, attendees enjoyed a wonderful fall day on the golf course at Brae Burn.

The day concluded with more opportunities for attendees to network and share ideas and thoughts on current trends while enjoying a variety of food and drink from the club, plus a special Dewar's tasting opportunity.
