Seven Qualify at Noyac for Met Open Championship

SAG HARBOR, N.Y. (July 24, 2013) - Six qualifying positions (plus ties) were on the line at Noyac Golf Club in Sag Harbor, N.Y.,  as 60 players teed it up with hopes of qualiying for this year's edition of the Met Open Championship Sponsored by MetLife to be played at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club in late August. Leading the pack at Noyac and coming in with a score of 3-under 69 for his 18 hole round was Tim Garvin of South Fork.  Garvin's low score, due to four birdies and only bogey, secured him a final spot in the field for the championship next month.

One stroke behind him was Christopher Marinaro of The Muttontown Club, who shot a 2-under 70. Tied for third place and also advancing through this qualifier were Shaun Powers of Fairview and Kevin Ausserlechner of Darien who both carded even pars for the day.

A trio of amateurs took the remaining qualifying positions with their scores of 1-over 73. Cody Cox  of Hickory Hill, Thomas Whelan of Smithtown Landing, and Darin Goldstein of Noyac will head out to Old Westbury on August 20-22 as well.
