Ten Qualify at Met Open Qualifier at Laurel Links

LAUREL, N.Y. (July 29, 2014) - A field of 99 players competed for nine qualifying positions (plus ties) at today’s Sectional Qualifying Round for the 99th Met Open Championship at Laurel Links Country Club in Laurel, N.Y.

Tyler Jaramillo of Seawane had the low round of the day, an even-par 71, and earned medalist honors.

Amateur Matthew Demeo of Port Jefferson was close behind, carding a 1-over 72.

Five players finished a 2-over 73 to qualify for the championship: Nick Bova of Friar’s Head, Brian Roth (a), of Darlington, Charles Stucklen of Sebonack, Paul Dickinson of Atlantic, and Garrett Engel (a) of Woodmere.

Claiming the remaining qualifying positions with scores of 3-over 74 were Ross Hoffman (a) of Lake Success, Tom Sutter of Dunwoodie, and Kenneth Pridgen of Suneagles.

Laurel Links played to a par 71 at 6,938 yards today.
