Last year was his first year in the program, and as a result of his experience, Cervantes discovered he had an interest in golf course maintenance and is pursuing a career as a golf course superintendent.

The two-day, match play event features a field of 16 of the Met Area’s rising stars on a Rumson track that has hosted this event on nine previous occasions.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (August 8, 2011) -- Five years ago, Ellen Gyapong couldn’t have told you the meaning of the word “golf,” because five years ago, Ellen Gyapong wasn’t even in this country. Originally from the west African nation of Ghana, Gyapong now resides in White Plains, N.Y., is an avid golfer, and has been a participant in the MGA’s GOLFWORKS student intern program at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains since 2009.

Four Juniors Will Represent MGA at Williamson Cup

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (August 4, 2011) – The 2011 MGA Williamson Cup team has been selected and will compete in 48th edition of the Williamson Cup Matches, which will be held on Monday, August 8th at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Md. This year’s team will consist of four very accomplished junior golfers, including Clancy Waugh of New York, N.Y., Anthony Alex of Wayne, N.J., Kyle Brey of Farmingdale, N.Y. and Cody Gross of Babylon, N.Y.
