West Orange, N.J.--Former Champion Michael McBride and son Michael Jr. of Arcola CC teamed up and shot a 3-under par 68 to capture the 51st MGA Father & Son (Gross) Championship today at Essex County Country Club in West Orange, NJ. McBride’s first Father and Son title was in 1970 with his father Joseph, the 1949 Met Amateur Champion, who had also claimed 3 other Father and Son titles in ’64, ’65, and ’66 with son, Terry.
April 29, 2001--The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association held its 8th Annual Scholar/Athlete Luncheon at Pines Manor in Edison, NJ in which representatives from 322 schools received continuing education scholarships. The Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation contributes two $250.00 scholarships to one male and one female each year as part of the scholar athlete program.
