UPDATED 1:40 p.m. (July 12, 2012) - In what was one of the most thrilling matches in the Round of 32 at the U.S. Public Links, Alex Edfort of Somerset, N.J., was defeated by Ben Griffin of Chapel Hill, N.C., on the first extra hole. Griffin holed a three-foot birdie putt to advance to the Round of 16. Just a day after Edfort's resilience proved to be too much for No. 1 seed James Erkenbeck, he and Griffin pushed for nine consecutive holes (playing them in 1-under) before the winning putt fell.

The “Met Net” is one of the most popular and competitive events on the MGA calendar, and an exciting afternoon saw the team from Blue Eagle Golf Club (located in Pearl River, N.Y.), Bill ioLonardi and John Schneider, finish on top via a one-hole, sudden-death playoff.
