Elmsford, N.Y. (June 14, 2013) - The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club celebrated its 125th Anniversary this past week with a series of exciting events to mark its founding as the first golf club in the United States. From its beginnings with John Reid and his intrepid “Apple Tree Gang” playing on a makeshift course in Yonkers, NY, the historic club has always been dedicated to promoting the game and its best traditions for longer than any other.

SHOREHAM. N.Y  (June 13, 2013) – Two-time MGA Mid-Amateur champion Dennis Lynch of Nassau Players led a field of 84 players at the MGA/MetLife Public Links sectional qualifier, firing a 2-under 69 at Tallgrass Golf Course in Shoreham, N.Y., to take home medalist honors.

STAMFORD, CONN. (June 12, 2013) –  Darlington’s Kevin Purcell earned medalist honors after firing a 1-under round of 71 at Wednesday’s MGA/MetLife Public Links sectional qualifying round at Sterling Farms Golf Course in Stamford, Conn.  Purcell, the general manager of five Bergen County golf courses, tied for 25th at last year’s Public Links at Bethpage Black.

BRONX, N.Y. (June 11, 2013) – A field of 86 players competed for 11 spots (and ties) at the Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course in Bronx, N.Y.,  on Tuesday for a trip to the 66th MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship. When it was all over, 11 players on the number were able to conquer the short yet challenging 6,002 yard par 70 layout and qualify, all posting scores of 75 or better.
