Wilson, Buckley, and Shih Share Lead after First Round of Ike

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (June 24, 2013) – Defending Ike champ and four-time MGA winner Cameron Wilson of Shorehaven continued where he left off a year ago and fired a 3-under 69 to co-lead after the first round of the 58th Ike Championship at Wykgayl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (June 24, 2013) - Temperatures were high early this morning as the morning wave of players teed off in the first round of the 2013 Ike Championship at Wykagyl Country Club. Max Buckley of Westchester, who just won the NYC Amateur and the Anderson Memorial, was the low scorer of the morning with a 3-under 69 with 4 birdies on his back-nine.  Buckley commented that although he got off to a challenging start, he was able to recover from a bogey early on with three birdies in a row to get into a groove for the rest of the round.

UPDATED (June 21, 2013 - 11:45 a.m.) After a close match which was pushed to extra holes, Jim Liu was defeated on the 19th hole of the semifinals by Garrick Porteous of Bamburgh Castle. Liu had an impressive run, as he was the only American to make it as far as the Round of 16.
