Snouffer Leads 100th Met Open with Opening 65

MAMARONECK, N.Y. (August 25, 2015) – Several players, including a pair of past champions, have carded under-par rounds as the 100th Met Open has begun on the East Course at Winged Foot, but amateur Ryan Snouffer of Essex County owns the early lead following his 5-under 65. In all, four competitors carded sub-par rounds in the morning wave, while three more posted even-par 70.

UPDATED (August 7) - Harsh weather and a challenging golf course made Northern Ireland's Royal County Down a stern test for the Senior British Amateur, with scores in the 80s not being uncommon during the 54-hole championship. As the only local to make the 60-player, plus ties cut after 36 holes of play, Ken Bakst carded rounds of 75-76-79 for a 230 tournament total on his way to a top-20 finish.

UPDATE (August 16, 2015) - Brian Gaffney closed out his PGA Championship experience by collecting crystal on the 18th green at Whistling Straits thanks to his finish as the low club pro in the event. With 20 club pros in the field, the Head Professional at Quaker Ridge was the only one to make it to the weekend, and the first of his profession to make the cut at the PGA Championship since 2011. Gaffney finished strongly Sunday with a 1-under 71.
