Top Young Players Prepare for Met Junior at Engineers

July 10, 2009 – An outstanding field of 64 Met Area junior golfers are ready to compete at Engineers Country Club in Roslyn Heights, N.Y., in the92nd Met Junior Championship sponsored by MetLife. The Met Junior, a three-day, match play competition that is the nation’s oldest junior championship, begins on Wednesday, July 15 and concludes on Friday, July 17.

July 9, 2009 – Allison Oakes of Sterling Farms fired an even-par 71 to win the 12th WMGA/MGA Women’s Public Links Championship on July 9 at Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point, N.Y. This is Oakes’ second victory at the Women’s Public Links (2007). Karen Bouloucon of Black Bear, the 2005 champion, carded a four-over-par 75 to finish in second.

July 8, 2009 – The 12th WMGA/MGA Women’s Public Links Championship will be held on Thursday, July 9 at Patriot Hills Golf Course in Stony Point, N.Y. The last three editions of this championship have been won by two players: Daria Cummings of Sterling Farms in 2006 and 2008, and Allison Oakes, who also plays out of Sterling Farms, in 2007. Both are back to contend for the Women’s Public Links title again, and they will be up against a talented of field of Met Area public links players.
