ELMSFORD, N.Y.--William P. “Willie” Turnesa of Elmsford, NY and Knollwood Country Club, passed away on June 16th the age of 87 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

ELMSFORD, NY --- Payne Stewart and Dolores Hope will be honored at the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association’s 50th National Awards Dinner on June 19, 2001 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, Connecticut.   Stewart is the 2001 recipient of the Gold Tee Award, the Met Golf Writers’ highest honor “for career achievements which exemplify the best spirit and traditions of the sport of golf.”  Payne’s 15-year old daughter, Chelsea, will accept the award along with friend Paul Azinger.

FAR HILLS, N.J.--Ticket requests for the 2002 U.S. Open golf championship at Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in Farmingdale, N.Y., will be accepted by mail order or via the USGA Website at www.usga.org from June 18 through July 31, 2001, according to the United States Golf Association.  The Championship is scheduled from June 13-16, 2002.
