ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 7, 2015) - As the 115th U.S. Open at Chambers Bay quickly approaches, players in the Met Area and beyond are competing in local qualifying rounds to get one step closer to the final championship field. The MGA is conducting four local qualifying rounds throughout the area, beginning on Monday, May 11. Professionals and amateurs will compete for few coveted qualifying positions, and from there those who advance through local qualifying will play in a 36-hole Sectional Qualifying Round.

UPDATED (May 12, 2015) - The round of 16 at the first-ever U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon, will kick off today but without a Met Area team moving on.

RYE, N.Y. (May 6, 2015) – George Zahringer III of Deepdale added a 16th MGA victory to his collection by winning the 88^th MGA Senior Amateur Championship by eight strokes at Westchester Country Club.

RYE, N.Y. (May 5, 2015) – The most decorated player in MGA history, George Zahringer of Deepdale, is in prime position to add an MGA Senior Amateur title to his resume after carding a 7-under 65 in the first round of the championship today. Zahringer’s impressive round included seven birdies and one eagle on Westchester Country Club’s West Course to give him a four shot lead going into Wednesday’s final round.

UPDATED (May 5, 2015) - The match play round of 32 featured three Met Area duos yesterday at the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, CA., who looked to grab a spot in the round of 16. Only one team was able to make it through, the 29th seeded Doug Kleeschulte and Jeffrey Schaller of Kingston, N.Y. The team just got into the match play portion of the tournament by one shot, and have taken full advantage.

(April 27, 2015) - Both the Metropolitan Golf Association and Winged Foot Golf Club have storied histories that will meet again this summer for an MGA record seventh time when the 100th playing of the Met Open takes place on the club's East Course. (April 27, 2015) - The field is set for the 88th MGA Senior Amateur Championship with 168 of the Met Area's top senior players gearing up for the two-day event at Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y., on May 5-6 on the West Course. The weather seems to be coming around just in time for the first championship of the 2015 MGA season, which should bode well for a field full of past Senior Am Champions.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 23, 2015) - On Wednesday, April 22, Friar's Head in Riverhead, N.Y., hosted the MGA's annual Media Day in advance of the 2015 MGA Championship season, which is filled with stellar host courses all across the Met Area. One of those is Friar's Head, which will host the 60th Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship June 29-30.
